Easy Homemade Peanut Butter

When I was looking for a peanut butter with only salt and peanuts for the ingredients, I quickly realized that I'd be paying way more for less ingredients. The store natural peanut butter separates super badly, so we had to store it upside down on the shelf to mitigate the peanut oil separation. I recently discovered how truly easy it is to make your own and wanted to share with you all!
All you need is a container of dry roasted peanuts and if you want to add your own, mineral salts.

I buy this container from Aldi and it gives me a jar of natural peanut butter in about 10 minutes of effort! All you have to do is dump the plain peanuts into your blender or food processor and blend. You will have to periodically stop and scrape the sides of your blender to make sure all the peanuts are being incorporated into the mixture.

Here you can see how the blended nuts on the bottom are turning to peanut butter, so I am just scraping the sides until they are all blended well and look like regular peanut butter! Blending it long enough causes the peanut oils to come out during the process so it turns out to be a really delicious and smooth mixture. You can choose to add 1tbs of olive oil if desired, but its not super necessary if you have the patience to wait for it. The best part? This peanut butter does not separate like the store kind! I think it's just that we use so much peanut butter in my house, so it might separate if it sits too long. I keep mine in the fridge, but usually have to make more once a week! I bet it would keep for a few weeks if you don't go through a ton of it.
I store mine in a reused Smuckers Naturals jar and keep it in the fridge. One container of dry roasted nuts fills one Smuckers jar for me!
